What is dua khatam Quran?

Prayer, or “Dua Khatam Quran” in Arabic, holds significant importance for Muslims worldwide. It’s our heartfelt communication with Allah, seeking His guidance, solace, and assistance, even in circumstances that appear impossible to human understanding.

Dua Of Khatam Quran
Our revered Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) once imparted:
“When you seek, turn to Allah. When you require aid, look towards Allah. Understand that even if the entire world unites to assist or harm you, they can only do so with what Allah has already destined for you.”

In the sacred Quran, Allah proclaims: “When My servants inquire about Me, let them know I am close. I attentively hear every supplicant’s prayer when they call upon Me.” [Quran, 2:186].

But one might wonder, what specific “dua khatam Quran” should one utter upon concluding the Holy Quran?

What is the Khatam Quran?

“Khatam Quran” refers to the completion of reciting the entire Quran, from its beginning to its end, ensuring no chapters or “surahs” are omitted.

What do you say before reciting the Quran?

Before delving into the verses of the Holy Quran, one should initiate the recitation with the phrase, “A’oozu Billahi minash shaytanir rajim,” followed by “Bismillah Hir Rahman Nir Raheem.” This ritual prepares the heart and mind to absorb the divine wisdom contained within the Quran.

Here is a profound supplication you can recite before immersing yourself in the verses of the Holy Quran:

Before Recitation Of Quran

“O Allah, I bear witness that this is Your Book, sent down to Your Messenger Muhammad, son of Abdullah. May Your blessings be upon him and his descendants. This scripture articulates Your words, delivered through the tongue of Your Prophet.
You’ve ordained it as a guiding light for humanity and as an unbroken bond between You and Your worshippers.

O Allah, I stand before Your covenant and Your Book. May my gaze upon its verses be a form of worship, my recitation a reflection, and my contemplation a means of gaining insight. Let me heed the warnings and teachings contained therein and abstain from what You’ve prohibited.

While I read, let my ears remain attentive, and don’t obscure my sight. Let not my recitation become mere words without understanding. Instead, allow me to ponder upon its verses and its rulings, embracing the teachings of Your faith.

And as I journey through its chapters, let not my attention waver nor my recitation be heedless. Certainly, You are the Epitome of boundless Compassion and the Ultimate Source of Infinite Mercy.

Before you start reading the holy Quran, you should start the surah by saying “A’oozu Billaa hi minash shayta nirra jeem” and then “Bismillah Hir Rahman Nir Raheem” After that, you can start reading the Quran.
